The ((Wachowski)) brothers (sisters?) created this idea, or simply made a movie about it, that you must question everything to the point of paranoia and dread. That under every seemingly innocuous 'thing', there is a deeper and darker agenda, reality or 'truth' behind it. The red pill is so enticing, and the blue pill is ignorance (bliss) - which people are too egoic to deny. But when Neo takes the red pill, his reality becomes extremely depressing and bleak. Maybe the idea of the red pill is actually designed to have the masses be poisoned by paranoia and to literally become schizophrenic - that their reality darkens to this horrible realm, just like in the movie. Because everyone is so obsessed with exposing this demonic underworld that controls everything. What if I told you that by trying to constantly 'uncover' this dark underworld that doesn't even exist, that you actually create it through a self-fulfilling prophecy. Hence: the dark reality in which we find ourselves in. Just think about it, 2001 was the axis point in time where everything became bleak - enough time for the 1999 Matrix movie to embed itself into the psychosphere. Prior to 2001, the world was colourful and wondrous. Post 2001, or 9/11, the world becomes a very abrasive place that systematically got worse year by year, accelerating in 2007 and 2012 and now we're at a breaking point in 2020.
