Tuxedo Winnie the Pooh, also known as 'A Fellow Man of Culture,' is a photoshopped image of Winnie the Pooh seated in an armchair, often used as a reaction image.
The meme features a tuxedo-clad Winnie the Pooh, which initially gained traction as a reaction image on 4chan before becoming widely recognized on Reddit in March 2019.
The origins of Tuxedo Winnie the Pooh trace back to December 20, 1974, when Disney released the animated featurette 'Winnie the Pooh and Tigger Too.' In this featurette, Pooh is depicted dozing off in an armchair during a meeting with Piglet and Rabbit. This scene was later included in the 1977 compilation film 'The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh.'
The meme began circulating as early as 2013, featuring a still of Pooh in an armchair with a detached expression. In March 2019, Reddit user avocadoMaster420 popularized the 'a fellow man of culture' macro in a post to /r/me_irl, which garnered over 14,900 upvotes within three days. Shortly thereafter, Redditor NeonVanillaIcecream used a cropped version in /r/dankmemes, earning over 58,300 upvotes in just two days. This led to a surge of similar posts across various subreddits.
On June 9, 2019, a user on 4chan's /pol/ board created a variant featuring Pooh's eyes replaced by those of Pepe the Frog. On October 22, Redditor nic-bit shared a version depicting Pooh with a DERP face, implying incompetence, alongside the text 'TikTok,' which received over 35,000 points. The following day, another user, orqh, introduced a tiered version with Pooh wearing headphones and the text 'Get the fuck out of my room I'm playing Minecraft,' amassing over 56,000 points.
