In a notable video from January 20, 2017, Joseph humorously narrates Rue being kicked out of a shoe store, exclaiming, 'Oh no, Daniel, what is you doin??' On March 9, 2017, Joseph posted another video where they jumped a fence into the yard of NBA star Anthony Davis, although the catchphrase was not said in this clip.

The first known instance of the catchphrase appearing as a reaction image was shared on March 18, 2017, by the Instagram account supa_cent, where it received over 11,600 likes. Following this, the image was widely shared on Twitter with various captions. A Reddit thread on March 22, 2017, inquired about the meme's origins, indicating its growing popularity. Additionally, on October 22, 2018, Jeopardy! contestant Erik Agard referenced the meme by answering with 'What is you doing baby?' during the final round.
